Frozen Trouts
Patagonia Natural Trout
The Argentinian Patagonia is a region of mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers under majestic blue skies, a place of immeasurable natural richness. Ten years ago, in this enclave, in the Rio Negro province near the city of Bariloche, the company Manila began an all-natural trout-farming business, committing to care for both the environment and the animal well-being.
The trout – of the rainbow species, one of world´s most recognized salmonids for its high nutritional value – are raised with artisanal farming methods in the Lake Alicurá. After a brief period in tanks, the fry are transported to the lake to complete their development, and then filleted in the only authorized plant in the area. The purity of the meltwater plus the natural feeding is key for the ultimate quality of the trout, which meets the high standards of both local and international markets. The company exports its frozen Patagonian trout to WholeFoods in USA, famous for its all-natural and organic selection, from whom they obtained certification.
Steady and reliable growth has enabled the company to access new markets, making Manila a true Argentinian success story.
